Meet Our Team

Paula is currently a Duke at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia. With a major in Biology, she aspires to pursue a health career with a specialty in cardiovascular medicine.

She’s been involved in sports since she was little — spending 10 years in gymnastics and playing field hockey for her high school team — so staying busy is basically part of her personality.

Outside of school and work, Paula loves spending time with friends, traveling with family, listening to music, and relaxing at the beach in her favorite place, Puerto Rico.

Paula is smart, driven, and somehow still the funniest person in the room. If you see Paula out on the road with us, expect great energy, lots of laughs, and someone who genuinely makes every visit brighter. We’re so excited to have her on the team.

Brenda’s love for animals started early, and by the time she was 17, she was already working in veterinary medicine. What began as an early passion quickly became a lifelong career, and she has loved every patient, client, and new challenge along the way.

Today, Brenda oversees veterinary care and operations at 823, helping ensure that every part of the patient and client experience runs smoothly. You’ll often find her out on the road with the team, supporting patient care, assisting Dr. Ortiz with treatments, coordinating appointments, and helping make sure everything stays organized behind the scenes.

As one of your main points of contact at 823, Brenda is here to help with everything from scheduling and answering questions to coordinating follow-ups and making sure you know what to expect throughout your pet’s care.

When she’s not working, Brenda loves spending time outdoors, reading, cycling, catching up with friends and family, and discovering new coffee shops and local restaurants.

With a natural eye for organization, efficiency, and the little details that make a big difference, Brenda is passionate about creating a smooth and comfortable experience for both pets and their families.

Whether you see her at your front door, in the 823 van, or helping behind the scenes, Brenda brings genuine care, organization, and a whole lot of heart to everything she does.

Dr. Giniaro Ortiz was born and raised in Sabana Grande, Puerto Rico, where his early years were shaped by two lasting passions: animals and sports. Growing up alongside his grandparents, he spent much of his childhood helping care for farm animals, while also staying active through baseball and basketball — a combination that naturally led him toward veterinary medicine.

He went on to study Animal Science at both University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and Louisiana State University before earning his veterinary degree in 2008 through Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine and completing clinical training through Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine.

For more than 18 years, Dr. Ortiz has built a strong foundation in veterinary medicine and now brings that experience to his mobile practice, focusing on delivering high-quality, relationship-centered care directly to pets and their families. His mission is to strengthen the pet-human bond while making veterinary care more accessible, personal, and meaningful.

Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Ortiz is also a competitive cyclist who races nationally and internationally as part of USA Cycling. His dedication to discipline, performance, and growth carries through everything he does — whether he’s on the road, in competition, or caring for patients.

He is also deeply committed to mentoring the next generation of veterinary professionals, including veterinarians, technicians, and students, helping guide and support others in a field he is passionate about.

When he’s not working or racing, you’ll find him traveling with his family or training on his bike. Dr. Ortiz leads with experience, heart, and purpose — and is proud to bring a new level of care directly to the community through mobile veterinary medicine and telemedicine.

Madison is currently a junior at William & Mary, majoring in Biology. She aspires to attend veterinary school and eventually pursue a career in small animal general practice. She is thrilled to be part of the 823 Veterinary Medicine team and especially
enjoys helping pets stay comfortable in their own homes, surrounded by the people who love them.

Outside of her work with 823 Veterinary Medicine, Madison stays busy caring for the
livestock at Colonial Williamsburg through her role as Co-President of William & Mary’s Pre-Vet Club. She also works at The Cheese Shop and enjoys exploring local coffee
shops, completing escape rooms, supporting the performing arts, and watching rom-coms.

Madison’s love for animals has always been at the heart of her veterinary journey, which
began when she started working at a veterinary emergency room. In particular, she has
a soft spot for turtles and cats and even spent part of her summer studying both abroad
in Bali. At home, she has a cat named Angel and a tortoise named Pearl.

While she misses her own pets when she’s away at school, she is grateful to the 823 family for
giving her plenty of furry and four-legged friends to love along the way.
